This synopsis of cutting-edge discoveries concerning wellness is a must reading.  Dr. Collet has restated some very interesting information related to recent science effective in thwarting disease and retarding the causes of aging.  He serves his legal background admirably in making a compelling case for the consistent application of nutritional supplements to fortify the human body and proactively address concerns about the impending loss of memory, vision, cardiovascular health, general health, and particularly, the threat of cancer in a number of its varieties.

The (full text of the) articles he has referenced, and from which he has gleaned what may be conclusive evidence of the value of antioxidants in combating the aforementioned processes, are available at university libraries and elsewhere by consulting the outstanding medical journals in which they appear.  Complete citations appear in the References Section.

In addition this article is linked to several sources regarding trace elements, minerals, amino acids and enzymes, which are necessary and complementary to vitamins--carotenoids in particular.

It seems that there is finally beginning to be at least the partial convergence of conventional “modern” western medicine, traditional oriental medicine, and international homeopathic or holistic medicine in the area of preventive medicine, which this article addresses.   In conclusion we would all be well-advised to increase our intake of fresh fruits and vegetables, juices and supplements containing proper dosages of minerals, vitamins, enzymes, and amino acids which complement one another to foster wellness.  The human body is its own best healer, and the healthier an organism is to begin with, the less likely it will be to become sick when exposed to pathogens, physical trauma and pollution.

Read how you can enjoy greater quality of life particularly in later years when you are more likely to have the financial means, but not otherwise the requisite physical health to enjoy it.  As Benjamin Franklin said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

Introduction

None of the clinical research that this paper covers is my original work product.  In fact, most of the articles referenced herein, were initially collated by someone else.   Just the abstracts were published together in the first source that I originally consulted.  I am grateful to those who undertook those tasks, making my job less onerous.  The following article, therefore, represents a simplification of those abstracts and a restatement of some rather complex chemistry into a slightly more user-friendly, bottom line summary with some of my own narrative tying it all together.  I have examined the abstracts, and in many cases, read the full text of the articles they cover in order to comprehend and verify certain of the conclusions stated by each.   Essentially, my efforts were focused on gleaning authoritative statements by physicians and research scientists that they feel are accurate, in order to save the reader tedium in doing the same, and  “to cut to the chase”, so to speak.   Many of the authors have participated in additional articles concerning similar subject matter.  A number of these were available on the INTERNET, and were also read, and digested, as well.

If there are any mistakes in transmitting this information, they are undoubtedly my own.  I am grateful to Soundconcepts for compiling the bulk of the publications cited. As indicated on page 3 of their resultant booklet (with which I concur) “No information contained herein is meant to replace the advice of a doctor or healthcare practitioner.  Readers are encouraged to seek advice from qualified health professionals in the instance that they have a medical condition.”

Printed copies of said booklet (containing the complete abstracts) may be obtained by calling (800) 494-4659 or visiting the website www.nutools.com.  As implied previously, if one were to look up any particular article on the INTERNET there are almost always various useful links or further references cited.   Literally hundreds of websites and countless articles by some of the same combinations of authors, are out there for the reading.  It is surprising how many sources exist that summarize additional clinical studies, and other reports on the ability to achieve wellness with the aid of nutritional supplements.  And there are new ones coming on stream all the time.

The articles cited in what follows represent some of the most recent and provocative literature available, but those reviewed are not necessarily an exhaustive treatment of the subject.  The reader is invited to study further and to form his or her own conclusions.

The idea of this writer is to make the comprehension of said booklet simpler while documenting the conclusions in a logical, fluid flow.   For the lay person, whether a patient or nutritional supplements distributor who does not already have a doctorate from an impressive university, this exercise should be beneficial.  A better, academic, as well as, practical understanding of the terminology and science will always be more appreciated by the pharmaceutical customer just as it is by a new down-line (multi-level) sales person undergoing training.  It is important for all people involved in sales to comprehend for themselves what they are trying to communicate.  Just parroting-back $50 words that one has memorized very often exposes a fundamental ignorance which betrays the excellent products that may make a difference in the consumer’s life.  We all don’t need to be research chemists or molecular biologists to perform effectively in this field.  However, a better command of the basic science behind the formulations will certainly give everyone more confidence--if not make for a more sincere and thorough presentation, beneficial to all concerned.  Therefore, I have included a somewhat extensive glossary at the conclusion, compiled from a number of credible sources.

He is the author of several articles, business plans, websites and books about Mineral Extraction and Supplementation, Genetics, Genealogy, Myrmecology, Herpetology, and Comparative Religion.   In 1976 he was awarded a Juris Doctor from the University of California—Hastings College of the Law, and is a perpetual student and enthusiastic instructor.   Dr. Collet has a working knowledge with various degrees of fluency in five languages, and has traveled extensively.

After the culmination of a 20-year international career including 12 years residence in Europe as an executive and business manager for some of the greatest names in the professional golf industry, he returned to his native Southwest to be closer to his extended family.  There he has renewed his passion for science and has recently completed additional college courses in Botany, Chemistry, Ecology, Geology and Genetics.   Cognizant of the proper application of minerals as an integral part of the nutritional regimen, and concerned about the premature onset of the effects of aging, Dr. Collet recently began conscientiously studying intelligent ways of forestalling the same.   He currently resides in St. George, Utah with his wife, Rebecca.  They are the parents of three adult children, and have two grandchildren (January 2007).
